Miami Reptile Company Celebrates 2 Years
The Miami Reptile Company is nearing its second year of business at the 17021 South Dixie Highway location this summer. Although the principal members of the business have been in the reptile industry for almost thirty years, this new 3300 square foot location has had its share of triumphs as well as its setbacks. Shortly after opening in the current location in 2017 Hurricane Irma blew through the area and although no major damage occurred to the business location, the overall damage to the area set everyone back for a few months as they removed trees and rebuilt fences and roofs. Shortly after celebrating the first year in business at the new location a rodent shortage that lasted for a few months caused more headaches and hungry bellies as the owners sought frozen food items for the reptiles in countries as far away as China.
It has not been all bad news either since shortly after the inaugurating the store, The Miami Reptile Company expanded into a neighboring unit and by doing so opened up an additional 1100 square feet of space to use for housing animals and larger display tanks. Late in 2018 we also opened a new warehouse location where some additional breeding and dry good distribution will be kept. In total the Miami reptile Company is currently operating at close to 7000 square feet of animal and reptile related dry goods making it the largest seller and distributor of reptiles in South Florida. With this blessing has come the challenges of managing and upkeeping distribution and personnel but thanks to the hard efforts of five managers, six team members and one very knowledgeable group leader, we have been able to keep growing as we approach our third year in business in Palmetto Bay.
At the Miami Reptile Company we have built a business based on the love for the animals that we work with rather than the profit line that most businesses are based on. We have hand-picked a very dedicated group of reptile enthusiasts that have each shown a spark of talent in at least one or more areas of reptile and arachnid husbandry and production. Our team lives, breathes and even dreams reptiles and that is why we have dedicated our full time attention to the hobby and industry that we all love and represent. If you are in the Miami area please stop in and let us show you what we are talking about. We are open 7 days a week 352 days a year from, 11 am to 7 pm and are here to help you in person or by phone every day. You can also find us on social media on Facebook and Instagram and please keep an eye out for our YouTube channel which will be launching very soon.
